Trump Turnberry has presented cheques totalling £101,586 to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and Ayrshire’s Whiteleys Retreat.

Representatives of the two charities were invited to Turnberry to collect the donations, which were raised as a result of the staff team’s recent record-breaking fundraising efforts.

The resort’s charity body, the Turnberry Titans, raised a total of £129,586 in 2023 for three charities through various fundraising initiatives, including The Kiltwalk, which saw the 15 strong team donning kilts to walk a combined 297 miles through the streets of Glasgow.

The Turnberry Titans fundraising initiatives also included the annual Ladies’ Lunch in August and their legendary St. Andrew’s Dinner and Ceilidh auction in November.

The Glasgow Children’s Hospital was presented with a cheque for £86,586, Whiteleys Retreat received £15,000, and a total of £28,000 was also raised for US based cancer charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is close to the hearts of many of the resort’s US guests.

The Turnberry Titans were founded in 2015 and have since raised more than £690,000 for Turnberry’s three partner charity organisations.

2024 will see a full calendar of fundraising events taking place at the destination, kicking off with the resort team’s ‘Dragon’s Den’ internal fundraising event, followed by a Charity Golf Day.

Trump Turnberry will then have two teams entering The Kiltwalk on the 28th April.  One will take the 22.6 mile ‘Mighty Stride’ from Glasgow Green to Balloch, while the second team completes the event’s ‘Big Stroll’, walking 14.2 miles from Clydebank to Balloch.

June will see the resort’s general manager, Ralph Porciani, undertake a gruelling cycle from London to Amsterdam, covering 85 miles a day for four days to raise money for the charities.

The glitzy Ladies Lunch returns on 23rd August followed by the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity Annual Ball in November. The resort’s St Andrew’s Day Dinner and Ceilidh will take place in November, followed by the Turnberry Dip on New Year’s Day.

Porciani commented: “I am incredibly proud of the Trump Turnberry team and their commitment to making a significant impact in communities within Scotland, which shines through in the record-breaking amounts we’ve raised for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and Ayrshire’s Whiteleys Retreat.

“This is testament to our team’s boundless energy and passion for making a difference to children and families dealing with unimaginable challenges and having a positive impact in their lives and in the fundraising efforts of the charities which support them.”

Head of Partnerships and Business Development at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, William McGowan, said: “We are hugely grateful for the support from the Trump Turnberry team; their continued generosity plays a pivotal role in our operations, and it is always such a pleasure to partner with them.

“The funds we receive are instrumental in making a significant difference in the lives of the children and families we support. I wish the Turnberry Titans huge success in their mammoth fundraising efforts for 2024.”
