Independent Scottish hospitality group Manorview will next month share over a quarter of a million pounds of profit with its staff via the group’s Heartcount profit share scheme.
Manorview, which owns and operates 12 venues across Central Scotland, including wedding venues, hotels and restaurants, announced the profit share this week during an all-expenses-paid party for the whole staff team held at Glasgow venue, Platform.
Under the Heartcount profit share scheme, everyone in the business who has 12+ months service qualifies for a share of 10% of Manorview’s net profits. The total amount being shared this year is £273,560 – and the 471 team members who have qualified will receive the extra cash in their February pay.
This profit share exercise is Manorview’s biggest yet – after having shared the previous record of £162,479 with its team in January 2023. The profit share amount each qualifying person gets is calculated on hours worked during a 12-month period, not on job title or salary. For many of the staff, the sums involved will equate to two weeks’ worth of pay.
Managing director David Tracey said: “Fairness is at the heart of our decisions. Every person in every role across our business impacts our success, so it’s right that profit is shared in a fair way.
“The calculation process ultimately means that it doesn’t matter whether someone is a Kitchen Porter, Bar Team, Wedding Sales Manager, General Manager, Housekeeper or Director – if they’ve worked the same hours, they get the same profit share.”
Manorview has built itself strong credentials as both a good employer and a community-minded business. All its team members are paid the real living wage as a minimum, and it recently set up a registered charity, the Manorview Foundation, to support people experiencing poverty and hardship. In December 2023, the group hosted 1700 underprivileged kids across 18 free party nights – ensuring they could experience some Christmas magic.
This week’s staff party was on a ‘Wild West’ theme, and attendees were treated to street food, drinks, a band and dancers – in addition to lots of activities like a Buckin’ Bronco, photo booths and glitter face paint bar. All of Manorview’s team members were invited to attend, and travel to and from the party venue was also taken care of.
Manorview chairman Steve Graham commented: “We close all our venues so that every team member can attend. It’s fantastic to get everyone together to show our thanks and appreciation, and celebrate what can be achieved as a team. I’m delighted that we can once again share profits with our team members. They do so much for our guests and our communities, and thoroughly deserve it.”
