Drams and Scottish culture in Summerhall this December

A special winter edition of the Scottish National Whisky Festival is coming to Edinburgh this December.

Taking place at Summerhall on Saturday 9 December, the event will cap off a busy year for the touring festival, which has most recently made appearances in Inverness and Aberdeen, and is set to re-visit Glasgow in January as part of Celtic Connections 2024.

Describing itself as ‘Scotland’s definitive whisky and cultural experience’, the festival’s Edinburgh outing will offer visitors an opportunity to take a deep dive into the modern world of whisky, spirits and live music.

Organisers promise an ‘exceptional’ range of exhibitors from across the drinks industry, with hundreds of whiskies and other spirits available to sample over each session, alongside a specially-curated pop-up cocktail bar and food pairings.

There will also be an on-site whisky shop with a selection of bottles to take home, courtesy of the festival’s partner retailer Jeffrey St. Whisky & Tobacco.

In addition to the liquid offer, the Scottish National Whisky Festival will continue its relationship with live music with a free public concert ongoing throughout the day in Summerhall’s Gallery Bar, programmed by popular Scottish fiddler Laura Wilkie.

Festival co-ordinator Gareth Croll said: “We are thrilled to be bringing the Scottish National Whisky Festival to the capital this winter. I can’t think of a better place to cap off what has been a fantastic year for the festival and we’re looking forward to bringing another exciting line up of exhibitors to Edinburgh on December 9th. See you all at Summerhall for some whisky and song!”
