Glasgow’s historic North Rotunda turns Radisson RED

Forrest Hotels Ltd – owner of the Radisson RED Glasgow – has acquired The North Rotunda.

The familiar domed structure on the Clydeside, which was originally built to house the lifting gear of an elevator serving a tunnel under the river, sits directly facing the multi-award-winning hotel within the SEC Campus, forming a key part of the skyline which characterises the area.

A Forrest Hotels Ltd spokesman said: “We are thrilled to confirm that we have added The North Rotunda to our portfolio. This exciting acquisition of a historic structure was a major goal as part of our long-term strategy and further enhances our footprint within the SEC Campus.

“Immediately adjacent to our flagship hotel, the beautifully iconic Rotunda building and its perfectly-placed car park will provide exciting opportunities for us as a business and for our hotel’s guests.”

The group has taken ownership of The North Rotunda and car park today (Friday 23rd June) with further information on Forrest’s plans for the building expected in due course.
