Luxury boutique hotel Dakota Edinburgh has unveiled its latest sustainability effort – a new 207-panel solar power array on its roof.
As part of its work to become a more sustainable destination, the South Queensferry hotel’s solar panels will provide renewable energy for the entire property, which encompasses 130 bedrooms, a bar and grill, and several meeting rooms and private dining spaces.
The Dakota Hotels group has committed to becoming more environmentally accountable, and the new Edinburgh installation follows in the footsteps of its sister property, Dakota Eurocentral, which in 2022 added 400 solar panels to its roof, and earlier introduced electric car charging points.
Energy Efficiency Manager Eve McIntyre said: “Installing solar panels is an extremely positive step for Dakota; we’re incredibly excited about our journey towards a more eco-conscious future. This is just the beginning; this project brings us one step closer to our environmental goals.
“We strive to be sustainable within our practices inside the hotels, so why not echo this outside, too? This project aligns perfectly with our goal of creating a culture that prioritizes environmental responsibility. Our team members and guests have embraced this initiative with enthusiasm, and we look forward to the next stages in our sustainability journey.”
