AN ‘Emerald Sour’ is among the serves Irish whiskey brand Tullamore DEW will be promoting ahead of this year’s St Patrick’s Day.

Described by the brand team at parent company William Grant & Sons as ‘a fresh, herbal twist’ on the classic Whiskey Sour, the Emerald Sour combines the Irish whiskey with Manzana Verde liqueur, Chartreuse Verte, mint syrup, lime juice and egg white.

Ingredients are firstly dry shaken to emulsify the egg white before being shaken again over ice and then double strained into a chilled rocks glass.

The drink is then garnished with mint.

A brand spokeswoman said the cocktail ‘combines flavours of apple, mint and lime in a cocktail as green as The Emerald Isle itself’.

It’s one of several drinks the Tullamore team is promoting ahead of 17th March, with other options including the Apple DEW – a simple serve that mixes Tullamore DEW with fresh apple juice, served in a highball glass over ice – and a boilermarker, which sees the whiskey sipped neat alongside a beer.
