THE father and son team behind a new distillery on Benbecula have launched their first spirits range.
MacMillan Spirits is the brainchild of father and son Angus A MacMillan and Angus E MacMillan. The company’s inaugural range of independently bottled spirits includes Wheelhouse Whisky – an eight year-old single cask single malt from Islay; Machair Gin, which is described as containing botanicals that were harvested on the director’s Uist croft; and Molucca Rum, an eight-year old golden rum.
Each of the spirits have been bottled at 46% ABV and were chosen to represent various aspects of Uist.
“This initial collection is just the beginning of our plans for creating a family of spirits that embodies our small island home and celebrates our slow, natural craft,” said Angus A MacMillan.
Meanwhile Benbecula Distillery is currently under construction, with distillation due to begin later this year. It will produce single malt.
