Highland food and drink to take centre stage at new festival

A NEW beer, gin and whisky festival will take place in Inverness over the Platinum Jubilee weekend, with proceeds from the event going to various charities.

The Highland Beer, Gin & Whisky Festival will take place at the grounds of Highland Rugby Football Club (Highland RFC) at Canal Park, Inverness. Running from Friday 3rd June to Sunday 5th June, the event will feature local producers including Black Isle Brewery, Cairngorm Brewery, Badachro Distillery, Tomatin Distillery and Benromach Distillery as well as a range of food trucks and activities.

The festival will also coincide with the two-day Inverness City 7s rugby competition.

All proceeds from the festival will be donated to charities Mikeysline, Alzheimer Scotland and My Name’5 Doddie.

Highland RFC vice president, Roy Dinnes, said the festival “looks set to be a fantastic weekend of food and drink from the Highlands, great music and, of course, Rugby 7s”.

“The weekend will be a highlight of Highland RFC’s centenary year events, but we hope it will provide a legacy lasting well beyond our 100th year,” said Dinnes.

“The Highland Beer, Gin & Whisky Festival and Inverness City 7s will also bring in funds for the club’s dedicated charities, Mikeysline, Alzheimer Scotland and My Name’5 Doddie, as well as Highland RFC to help us continue to promote and deliver rugby to communities across the Highlands.”
