Calling all drinks geeks

AN independent drinks industry show is appealing to “geeks, nerds and bar bores” in the hospitality industry as it prepares to touch down in Glasgow.

I Brought My Own Ice is a trade-only drinks event featuring seminars from drinks industry professionals as well as a wide range of spirits to sample.

The first date, in Edinburgh’s Voodoo Rooms, attracted over 170 members of the local bar trade at the end of February.

The second leg of the tour takes place this Monday (21st March) at St Luke’s in Glasgow, between 12 noon and 5.30pm. Tickets are free to workers in the industry and can be downloaded here.

The show will then progress to Dundee’s 3 Session Street (on 25th April) and Aberdeen’s Ivy Lodge (30th May).

I Brought My Own Ice is a joint initiative between independent distributors including Speciality Brands, The Base Spirits Collective, Mangrove Brands and Berry Brothers and Rudd.

Angus Russell, business development manager for Scotland at Speciality Brands, said the founders “spotted a gap in the market for a show that would bring the Scottish trade together and present professionals with a set of experiences and brands that share innovation, history and provenance”.

“This is a unique initiative, and we are all looking forward to sharing our experiences of exciting products to the movers and shakers of Scotland,” said Russell.
