Scottish Government says it will contact clubs by 14th January

THE Scottish Government has said it will contact nightclubs across Scotland this week and invite them to apply for a grant of up to £55,000.

The Nightclub Closure Fund is open to clubs which were closed before 23:59 on 31st December as a result of coronavirus restrictions. The Scottish Government has said it will contact all clubs across the country by 14th January and invite them to complete an application. Any club which has not been contacted by 14th January should contact covidbusinesssupport@gov.scot

Premises with a rateable value up to and including £40,000 can apply for a one-off grant of £25,000; those with a rateable value between £40,001 and £75,000 can apply for a grant of £35,000; and premises with a rateable value of £75,001 or above can apply for a grant of £55,000.

For the purposes of the grant, a nightclub is defined as a business which: is not open during the day as a bar, pub or restaurant; is open until at least 2am at the weekend (pre-COVID); operates “mainly or routinely after 7pm”; has a permanent DJ performance booth or area; and is licensed for recorded music, dance facilities and live performances.

Payment will be made within 14 days of receiving an application.
