MACMERRY 300 is set to open its new Abandon Ship Bar in Glasgow on 17th September.
Abandon Ship Bar is a joint venture between Macmerry, the Dundee-based bars group owned by 2019 SLTN Entrepreneur of the year Phil Donaldson, and Richard Davies, founder of apparel brand Abandon Ship. The first Abandon Ship Bar opened in Dundee in 2019.
The Glasgow venue, in the former So LA outlet on Mitchell Street, incorporates a bar and restaurant specialising in ‘Americana soul food’, cocktails and craft beers as well as a retail space dedicated to Abandon Ship clothing. The interior will feature hand-drawn artwork by Davies.
Macmerry’s operations director, AJ McMenemy, said the new venue marks a return to Abandon Ship’s roots after Davies set up Abandon Ship Apparel in the city’s east end almost a decade ago.
“This feels like our homecoming and we can’t wait to show Glasgow what we’re all about,” he said.
