Edinburgh-based group to stage events around Scotland next week
EDINBURGH-based Signature Group is taking a new recruitment drive on the road next week as its seeks to expand its teams in the wake of COVID-19 and Brexit and fully reopen its venues.
The company, which was established by Nic Wood in 2003 with the Grassmarket’s Black Bull and now has a portfolio of 21 bars, restaurants and hotels across Scotland as the Cold Town brewery which it opened in 2018, kicks off its recruitment roadshows in Aberdeen on Tuesday 7th September at Paramount Bar; the roadshow then moves to Glasgow’s Spiritualist venue on 8th September, followed by Cold Town House in Edinburgh on 9th September.
The group, which said it has been unable to open some of its venues post-lockdown due to staff shortages, is seeking to recruit at least 100 new members of staff to enable it to fully reopen.
Each three-hour roadshow will include interactive team sessions, input from suppliers, success stories from Signature employees and details of the benefits of working for the group; Signature said candidates will have the chance of securing a job on the day.
Louise Maclean, Signature’s business development director, said the campaign aims to encourage more people to join the hospitality industry after challenges posed by Covid-19 and Brexit.
“We simply don’t have the staff to fully reopen our business,” she said.
“We’re pleased to say we have plenty of customers, but just not enough colleagues, and we know this is a problem facing the whole sector at the moment. There is truly a staffing crisis in bars, hotels and restaurants across the country and it’s holding back the economic recovery of our industry.
“Our recruitment roadshows will be a great opportunity for keen individuals to come and speak with us directly to get a feel for what it’s like to work for Signature. There are plenty of roles to be filled and you will be joining a tight-knit team with a passion for all things food, drink and hospitality.”
