BARTENDERS have until next Thursday (26th August) to enter a competition which could see them establish their own cocktail brand.
The Monkey Bars competition from Scotch whisky brand Monkey Shoulder opened for entries earlier this month. It tasks teams of two or three people with creating their own cocktail brand for home delivery.
The winning team will then have their cocktails produced by Monkey Shoulder parent company William Grant & Sons and distributed UK-wide by the Lean Kitchen Network.
Entries have to include a brand name, concept for a brand identity, three drinks (at least two of which made with Monkey Shoulder) and a concept for packaging which goes “beyond being just about the drinks” and will make the cocktail box stand out (the company has suggested a QR code for a playlist or an extra addition to the box for consumers to enjoy along with their cocktails as examples).
Finalists will then be invited to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges in September, with the winning concept receiving three months of support from William Grant & Sons.
Monkey Shoulder ambassador Joe Petch said: “We hope that this is a chance to change someone’s life, with the concept being progressed and continued following the three months of funding and support from Monkey Shoulder.
“After a hard time for bartenders, we’re hoping that this opportunity will invigorate their creativity and love for cocktails.”
