A BORDERS pub which lays claim to being Scotland’s first ‘micropub’ has changed hands.
Located in Kelso Square in the town, Rutherfords was founded by Simon and Debbie Rutherford and is said to have gained an excellent reputation nationwide and won numerous awards, including CAMRA Borders Pub of the Year.
The Rutherfords decided to sell up to pursue other business interests and, following a marketing campaign by selling agent Bruce & Co, the pub was bought by an experienced operator.
Bruce & Co’s Lauren Lees said Rutherfords is a “micropub with great history which will continue to attract the local community and visitors from further afield”.
“Although the lockdown slightly prolonged the sale, we were able to secure a deal with the assistance of their solicitor,” she said.
“I wish my best to all parties involved.”
