A NUMBER of Scotch whisky workers cycled more than 200 miles this week in aid of Motor Neurone Disease charity MND Scotland.
The 20 staff, from Chivas Brothers, set off from the company’s bottling plant in Dumbarton and travelled 200 miles in two and a half days to reach the Chivas-owned Strathisla Distillery in Speyside, raising more than £32,000 for the charity in the process.
The sponsored cycle coincided with Global MND Awareness Day and MND Scotland’s 40th anniversary.
Chivas manufacturing director Liam Donegan, who participated in the cycle, said: “It’s brilliant to reflect on the amount raised and the hard work of the team after that mammoth ride. Making a difference to our community is incredibly important to us at Chivas Brothers, so I couldn’t be prouder that with this cycle, we could contribute to the advancements of MND Scotland’s brilliant work.
“We dug deep and pushed through some tough climbs, but I speak for us all in saying we would do it again in support of the incredible MND team… just maybe in a day or two!”
Since partnering with MND Scotland last year, Chivas has raised more than ÂŁ100,000 for the charity.
