THREE Edinburgh bartenders are among the eight finalists set to compete in the GB final of Diageo’s World Class cocktail competition.
Bartenders Stefanie Anderson and Murray Drysdale made the British final after presenting cocktails during the competition’s Singleton Challenge semi-final round.
They join another Edinburgh bartender, James Rawcliffe, in the final. Rawcliffe earned his place in the final eight back in September in the competition’s Cocktail Challenge round.
Anderson’s Singleton cocktail, In Memoriam, combined The Singleton of Dufftown 12 year old with chamomile, jasmine and eucalyptus cordial and Belsazar Riesling Vermouth, while Drysdale’s entry, the Ecossaise, mixed the single malt with floral pistachio orgeat and lemon.
All three bartenders will now compete in the GB final on 23rd April. Broadcast on the World Class Facebook page, the contest will see the eight British finalists competing in two virtual challenges using Diageo brands Tanqueray No. Ten, Johnnie Walker and Talisker.
The winner will go on to represent Britain in the World Class global final later in the year.
Pippa Guy, World Class and Tanqueray ambassador, said: “We have really enjoyed being able to spend time with each of our competitors, albeit virtually, and pleased to have been able to continue showcasing the amazing talent that the GB hospitality and drinks sector have to offer.
“Thank you to all those who entered and congratulations to our top eight finalists!”
