Edinburgh bar unveils takeaway whisky flight trio

EDINBURGH bar the Devil’s Advocate has launched three takeaway whisky flights for customers to enjoy at home.

Created in partnership with Diageo, the drinks giant behind Guinness and Smirnoff, the flights are designed for consumers to sample the flavours of Diageo-owned whisky brand Johnnie Walker, as well as the company’s wider whisky portfolio.

The selection includes the Four Corners flight which samples a number of the single malts featured in Johnnie Walker Black Label – Cardhu, Caol Illa and Clynelish. The second tasting flight, Take a Walk on the Blended Side, samples Johnnie Walkers’ Green, Gold, Black and Blue variants; and the third, Hidden Gem, offers expressions from Diageo-owned distilleries Royal Lochnagar, Auchroisk, Linkwood and Mortlach.

Each whisky flight comes with an online tasting video explaining the flavour profiles of the whiskies, the history of the distilleries and providing guidance on how to nose and sample each dram.

Stefanie Anderson, bar manager at The Devil’s Advocate, said: “We’ve worked closely with the team at Johnnie Walker to develop three very different and exciting whisky flights. They are a great way for anyone to expand their knowledge of both single malts and blended whisky and enjoy drams they may not have tried before.

“It’s definitely been a challenge creating a plan to reopen our venues. It’s clear that adaption is key and there are a lot of operational responsibilities which need to be considered, as our main priority is ensuring the best and safest possible environments to welcome back our teams and customers.

“We are working hard to learn the best way to embrace this ‘new normal’ and so far, the response has been really encouraging and we would like to thank everyone for their support. We’ve always been proud of the incredible food and drink scene in Edinburgh and are excited to be part of that again.”

Alistair Reynolds, brand ambassador for Johnnie Walker, said: “Online tastings have been hugely popular over the past few months, with a real appetite from people to learn more about whisky. The Devil’s Advocate is renowned for its fantastic whisky offering, so it’s great to give customers a chance to explore what’s behind the bar – all from the comfort of their own home.”

The flights are available to order on the Devil’s Advocate for delivery and collection from Wednesday to Sunday.
