Coronavirus: Pubco rent reviews postponed

Coronavirus

PUB companies in Scotland which operate under the terms of the voluntary Tenanted and Leased Code of Practice have suspended rent review negotiations while pubs are closed during the coronavirus pandemic.

The move, announced by the Pub Governing Body – the consortium of trade groups which administrates the code of practice – runs from March 16 until at least June 30.

In Scotland signatories to the voluntary code of practice include Admiral Taverns, Belhaven/Greene King, Hawthorn Leisure, Punch Taverns, Star Pubs & Bars, and Trust Inns.

Peter Luff, chair of the Pub Governing Body, described the suspension as a “pragmatic and sensible step”.

The Pub Governing Body is made up of representatives of six trade groups: UK Hospitality, The Licensee Association, The British Beer & Pub Association, The British Institute of Innkeeping, the Federation of Licensed Victuallers Associations, and the Guild of Master Victuallers.
