Scaling up for summer

The Isle of Wight Distillery has launched a pink gin which is designed to “make the most of the summer outdoor drinking season”.

Strawberries from the island’s Arreton Valley are used in the distillation of Mermaid Pink Gin and are credited with creating the spirit’s “pink hue”.

The 38% ABV spirit is described as offering “a refreshing and intensely aromatic, strawberry flavour”.

And with no added sugar, Mermaid Pink Gin is said to be “substantially less sweet than many on the market”.

The distillate is packaged in an environmentally-friendly bottle, which is plastic-free and features a wood topped cork and a plant-based tamper proof seal.

Xavier Baker, co-founder of the Isle of Wight Distillery, said: “We’ve significantly invested in the distillery’s future and pink represents the next big step for us. The pink gin category has still got masses of potential, both here and abroad, so we’re confident our unique island take on it will be a big hit.”
