Chance to take the reins of long-standing business
A VICTORIAN hotel set in the south side of the capital is for sale for the first time since 1993.
Built in 1874 and set within its own grounds, the Kildonan Lodge Hotel comprises a drawing room with cocktail bar, a 30-cover restaurant, which benefits from a quadruple window overlooking the gardens, and 15 en suite letting bedrooms.
The Garden Lodge – a purpose-built lodge located in the rear gardens – contains three additional en suite letting bedrooms, as well as a guest lounge and conservatory. Currently manager’s accommodation, it could be used to increase the letting bedroom capacity from 15 to 18, according to selling agent Cornerstone Business Agents.
The Kildonan Lodge Hotel is an elegant Victorian hotel with a beautiful restaurant.
The Kildonan Lodge Hotel is located in the Newington area of Edinburgh on the A701 – the main road linking the city centre to the south side.
Owned by Maggie Urquhart, who has operated the business under management for the past 26 years, the business has been placed on the market in order to facilitate Urquhart’s retirement.
Barry McNeil, a director of Cornerstone Business Agents, which is marketing the freehold of the hotel for offers over £2 million, said: “The Kildonan Lodge Hotel is a 15-bedroomed elegant Victorian hotel with characterful guest lounge and a beautiful restaurant.
“My colleague and fellow director, Derek Burgoyne, sold the hotel to Maggie and her late husband in 1993 and we are delighted to have received instructions all these years later to sell the hotel.”
