Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel has received a major endorsement for its work with young people.

The hotel has received a gold accreditation for its work with Investors In Young People (IIYP) in recognition of its recruitment, development and retention of young people.

Assessors interviewed staff at the hotel, reviewed the hotel’s business practices and considered past promotions of young people to various roles within the business. They concluded that the Grand Central has provided opportunities for young people still in school as well as offering graduate and apprenticeship programmes.

Paul Bray, general manager of the Grand Central, said: “This award is something that we are very proud of. We are thrilled to have achieved the gold standard for investing in young people at our first attempt and believe that this demonstrates our commitment to recruiting, developing and retaining our young talent.

“We believe that employing young people and ‘growing our own’ within the business breeds success and we can see a clear impact on business growth.”
