BUSINESSES in the Highlands have been forced to close their doors due to a lack of staff caused by the Brexit vote, according to the Inverness Hotels Association (IHA).
The trade group said the UK’s decision to leave the bloc has led to a sharp drop in the number of people from Europe applying for jobs in the north, which is causing damage to the area’s hospitality sector.
Emmanuel Moine of the IHA said: “Since Brexit, there is no one applying from Europe for any jobs.
“We put a job advert online, we receive two CVs in a week. We know businesses who have had to close trade because of lack of staff.”
