STAR Pubs & Bars is bringing a new turnover and profit-share pub agreement to Scotland, which it says is designed to make it more affordable for would-be operators to run their own bar.
The Just Add Talent (JAT) scheme, which is already in place in England, will see operators run the business and fund their own staff costs while Star supports them and pays all other expenses, including business rates, stock, live sports and maintenance costs. Revenue and profit will be shared between both parties.
The Heineken-owned pubco said the new agreement allows operators to focus on front of house operations and business development activities. Brian Davidson, Star’s regional operations director for Scotland, said it is intended to appeal to “a new breed of operators, who have the retail experience, drive and ambition to run an exceptional pub” and “reduces operator risk”.
