DIAGEO has entered the realm with the release of its Game of Thrones-inspired Scotch, White Walker by Johnnie Walker.
The limited edition release, which is inspired by the show’s undead army of White Walkers – has been created in collaboration with HBO and comes ahead of the airing of Game of Thrones’ final season.
Created by whisky specialist George Harper, alongside a small team of blenders at Johnnie Walker, the release is said to be best served directly from the freezer, which echoes “the chilling presence of the White Walkers”.
Bottled at 41.7% ABV, the Scotch features single malts from Cardhu and Clynelish – one of Scotland’s most northern distilleries.
Blender George Harper said the “frozen north” of Scotland served as inspiration for this blend, adding that whiskies from Clynelish “have endured long, Scottish winters, not dissimilar to the long periods endured by the Night’s Watch who have ventured north of the wall”.
Diageo is also set to launch the Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection early next year; it will feature eight Scotches that are each paired with one of the Houses of Westeros.
