Kingsbarns Distillery in Fife has released its first single malt whisky since being opened in November 2014.
The Founders’ Reserve Inaugural Release, which is being made available exclusively to members of the distillery’s Founders’ Club, is the first in a series of five annual bottlings and was aged in first fill bourbon casks from Heaven Hill distillery in Kentucky to represent the lowland malt in its “lightest style”.
All future releases in the series will come from a combination of different cask types and ages and will be bottled at cask strength, non-chill filtered and at natural colour.
William Wemyss, owner of the distillery, said: “The development of Kingsbarns Distillery and its long awaited single malt has been an enthralling experience.”
More releases, which will be available to non-members, are planned for early next year.
