Maritime malt ready to rock

The new cask strength Rock Oyster

“FLAMBEED orange peel, rich earthiness, puffs of drifting peat smoke and a salty tang” are all said  to be delivered on the palate by Douglas Laing & Co’s new release Rock Oyster Cask Strength #2.

The limited edition bottling of island malts, which is part of the Rock Oyster series that was first released by the independent bottler in 2015, was brought out in time for National Oyster Day.

The blended whisky – which contains malts from Islay, Arran, Jura and Orkney – is matured solely in American oak casks and bottled at 56.1% without colouring or chill-filtration.

Chris Leggat, chief executive officer at Douglas Laing & Co, said: “It’s been two years since the launch of Rock Oyster and we’re delighted to now respond to customer demand with this new limited release.

“This is a spectacularly stormy, rich and earthy dram that fans of Rock Oyster’s coastal spirit will undoubtedly relish.”
