IT’S a year to remember for Glasgow-based whisky bottler Douglas Laing & Co, which has just released the second in its XOP (Xtra Old Particular) Platinum series of whiskies.
The family-owned firm, which is marking its 70th anniversary this year, is releasing a different rare, aged single cask bottling every quarter in the course of the year.
The latest bottling is a 40 year old single grain whisky from Port Dundas distillery in Glasgow, which is now closed.
Bottled at 59.1% ABV and without chill-filtration or colouring, the whisky is described as “absolutely bursting with gingerbread spicy sweetness, dark fruits and home baking”.
The Port Dundas bottling is priced at £350 and follows the release of a 25 year old Ardbeg in March.
Each of the four casks selected for bottling was picked by father and daughter team Fred and Cara Laing.
