Wine range bolstered

This year’s list includes 23 new varietals

CROWN Cellars, the wine division of Carlsberg UK, has unveiled its 2018 portfolio, which includes 150 exclusive lines and 23 new additions.

Selected after extensive tasting, using the latest trends and customer feedback, some of the new additions to the range include Curious Devices Grillo, which is described as “a light and fruity white”; Mandorla Fiano, a “delicate white with lengthy finish”; and Drop Dead Gorgeous Malbec, an “intense jammy dark plummy red with ripe and rounded tannins”.

The latest guide, on which Crown Cellars’ wine buyer Louise Boddington and master of wine Jonathan Pedley worked, also includes menu creation advice, training and support as well as insights into the UK on-trade.

This year will also see the separation of Crown Cellars’ wine and spirits operations.

Having previously combined the offer, Crown Cellars will now stand alone as a wine portfolio; Crown Cellars’ spirits offer, meanwhile, will take on an independent identity as Distilled.
