DUNNS Food and Drinks has acquired Glasgow-based premium spirits wholesaler Hotsauce Drinks for an undisclosed sum.
Taking control of the Hotsauce Drinks business from today (March 5), the acquisition is said to follow “significant growth” for Dunns in 2017 and will allow the wholesaler to extend its range and expand its customer base by “offering an unparalleled range of premium spirits and cocktail accoutrements”.
Jim Rowan, managing director of Dunns, described the acquisition as a “bold” move for Dunns, which “sends a clear message to our customers that we’re constantly trying to be at the forefront of consumer trends and are providing the brands and products they need to grow their business”.
“The Scottish on-trade is a competitive marketplace but there are still plenty of opportunities in sectors such as premium spirits,” said Rowan.
“Bartenders are increasingly inventive and having access to a vast array of premium spirits and niche products allows them to stamp their own personality on their premises and meet a growing consumer desire for niche products.
“This is an exciting time for Dunns.”
The takeover follows Dunns’ acquisition of West Lothian-based craft and world beer specialist Dameck Drinks Scotland in 2014.
Dunns is said to have an annual turnover of £30 million.
