No new pubs for city of discovery?

The Dundee policy consultation will close on Friday November 24.
The Dundee policy consultation will close on Friday November 24.

DUNDEE licensing board is proposing that the entire city should be declared ‘overprovided’ in terms of licensed premises.

A new consultation on the board’s licensing policy asks respondents whether they think there is an overprovision of premises in the city.

However, the consultation homepage states that the board is satisfied there is “in principle, an overprovision of off-sales and public house-type premises in Dundee” following a presentation from the Dundee Alcohol and Drugs Partnership.

The page says the new position would create a “rebuttable presumption” against any new licence. Every application would be judged on its own merits, however.

Premises serving alcohol with food and hotel bars would be exempted from the policy.

The consultation will run until Friday November 24.
