Final straw for eatery

Lapreet Atwall in Halloumi

THE operators of Glasgow-based Greek restaurant Halloumi are the latest to ban plastic straws.

Inspired to cut their plastic pollution to help the environment, Halloumi has reduced plastic use by 100% since banning plastic straws from the restaurant in June; the venue now offers paper straws instead.

General manager Lapreet Atwall encouraged other businesses to follow suit; Mitchells & Butlers-owned chain All Bar One recently pledged to phase out plastic straws in its outlets.
