The Plumpy Duck is new on the bill

A NEW restaurant has opened within The Bowfield Hotel & Country Club in Howwood, Renfrewshire.

The restaurant’s interior features dark wood, copper lighting and exposed brickwork.

Forming part of a £1.5 million investment by parent company Manorview Hotels & Leisure Group, the new restaurant also includes The Stables Bar.

The existing bar was refurbished as part of the ongoing redevelopment of the hotel.

Trading as The Plumpy Duck, the restaurant’s name is designed to set it apart from the hotel; the bar’s name is said to be a nod to the hotel’s heritage as an equestrian centre.

Inside the restaurant, which is a completely new addition to the hotel, the design incorporates dark wood, copper lighting and exposed brickwork to “give a cosy intimate feel”.

The menu offers guests ‘wholesome dishes’, including steak and ale pie, roast chicken, haddock and pork belly, while the specials will feature various duck options.

The redevelopment of the hotel has been taking place in phases to allow the hotel to remain open for its visitors while work is ongoing.

With the first phase completed (new restaurant, kitchen and refurbished bar), phase two is underway and scheduled for completion by the end of September; it includes an extension to the existing spa facilities, with the addition of seven treatment rooms together with a new relaxation area.

Additionally, a new reception area will be constructed to allow members of the spa and gym separate access leading directly to the leisure club. And from January 2018, work will begin on a new function room, with plans to create an additional honeymoon suite.

Craig Stewart, general manager at The Bowfield Hotel, said: “The restaurant and bar are stunning, and offer great food in a relaxing atmosphere. We’ve already had lots of positive feedback. I’m delighted we can offer this level of service and dining to our visitors, and I’m excited to see all the future developments unfold.”
