New look for Inverness indie

AN independent Inverness hotel has reopened following a £250,000 refurbishment.

The Heathmount, which has been owned by Fiona Newton (pictured) for over 30 years, was “completely transformed” during the month-long revamp, led by Glasgow-based designer Mark Brunjes; the project saw a glass extension added to the bar and the restaurant overhauled.
The new-look bar majors in gin, and currently stocks around 30, including German gin Berliner Brandstifter, Death’s Door from the US, and local spirit Loch Ness gin.
Fiona Newton said there has been a “great response” to the new look, with The Heathmount attracting 1000 customers during its opening weekend.
“We have made this investment in order to remain an independent local business that sits at the heart of the Inverness community – and so far it seems to be working,” she said.
