C&C Group, parent company of Tennent’s and Magners, has sold its Shepton Mallet Cidery to Brothers Drinks, maker of Brothers Cider.
The sale will see Brothers shifting production of its cider range to the Shepton Mallet Cidery. Brothers is already based in the town of Shepton Mallet.
C&C bought the Shepton Mallet Cidery in 2009 along with cider brands Blackthorn, Gaymers, Addlestones and Olde English. However, in the course of this year the company has consolidated production of its cider products in Clonmel, Ireland.
“We are pleased that we have completed the sale to a local and well known cider company which maintains the history of the site and will provide opportunity for some of our employees to stay on under the Brothers team,” said Billy Mason of C&C Group.
“Finding a trade buyer was always our ideal outcome and so it feels good to have completed this transaction and we will now focus on a smooth handover.”
