TWO Highland businesses have joined forces to rescue the Loch Ness beer brand after its parent company went into administration.

Hotel operator and baker Cobbs Group and Cairngorm Brewery stepped in to save the brand following the liquidation of Drumnadrochit-based Loch Ness Brewing company earlier this year.

Sam Faircliff, managing director of Cairngorm Brewery, which previously bottled Loch Ness beers, said the brand was too important to lose.

“The Loch Ness brand is so well known globally that it will be a great opportunity for the export market as well as here at home,” said Faircliff.

Rory Cameron, managing director of the Loch Ness-based Cobbs Group, said the firm is “delighted to join forces with Cairngorm Brewery”.

“We look forward to bringing Loch Ness Brewery products to our 17 Cobbs outlets across Scotland and further afield in due course,” said Cameron.

The rescue of the Loch Ness beer brand comes after it won the Best Branding/Design award at the UK Beer Marketing Awards last month.
