Willie McCurrach, curriculum head for food at City of Glasgow College, was awarded the Education and Training Award in recognition of his 38-year career training and preparing students for succeeding in the hospitality industry. He was awarded the gong at a ceremony in London’s Grosvenor House.
McCurrach, who was shortlisted for the award last year, said it was “quite overwhelming” to have won.
“The Education and Training Award has never been given to a college lecturer in Scotland so it’s a huge honour to have won it and I still can’t quite believe it,” he said.
“However, I could not have done this without the support of my amazing team.
“This industry is all about working together and everyone here sees the value in competing as it makes us all up our game and strive to be the very best we can be.”
