A NEW wine bar with an Italian flavour has opened in Edinburgh, offering an exclusive selection of wines imported by father and son owners and wine importers Ronnie and Kyle Reid.
Located in the former Clouds & Soil unit on Picardy Place, il Calice occupies the ground floor of the Georgian townhouse; a second bar on the first floor and a private bar and meeting room on the lower ground floor are scheduled to open in October.
Owner Ronnie Reid said wine is “very much the focus” at il Calice, although the venue will also offer a range of cocktails.
“We want our customers to be given the opportunity to explore the many wonderful vintages we import from Italy, as well as others we have hand-picked from around the globe,” he said.
The food offer at il Calice includes a menu of Italian-inspired dishes created by the venue’s Venetian chef.
As SLTN went to press, four letting rooms located on the upper floors of the townhouse were also set to resume trading.
