FASHION and fizz were on the menu as ladies from across Scotland’s licensed trade raised £6000 for The Ben.

More then 200 women attended The Ben’s Fashion & Fizz event at Glasgow’s Oran Mor venue on May 12 to raise funds for the charity, which helps current and former workers of the licensed trade who are facing difficulties.

After a set by mind reader Drew McAdam, the fashion show, compered by radio presenter Gina McKie, got underway with ladies from across the Scottish trade taking to the catwalk to model dresses, which were then put up for auction.

Guests also heard from newly-appointed Ben president Sue Buchanan, of Mathew Clark, who spoke about the range of support the charity can offer.

Chris Gardner, chief executive of The Ben, said the charity’s ladies events – the inaugural Fashion & Fizz event follows three successful Cocktails & Cupcakes events – are going from strength to strength.

“Our first Fashion & Fizz event was a complete success and it couldn’t have happened without the support and generosity of our guests,” she said.

“They made the evening what it was and we’re already excited about planning for next year’s event.

“It was very humbling to see the industry come together in support of The Ben and we hope to see everyone again next year.”
