Lavish makeover for capital hotel

Five-star Edinburgh hotel The Chester Residence is undergoing a £1 million refurbishment, designed to create the “wow factor”.
The revamp is being carried out by Aberdeen-based firms Ambiance Interior Design and shopfitter Bentleys.

The project, due to be completed by the end of May, will see several apartments within the hotel decorated with “chic, contemporary décor” that includes bold geometric prints to complement the current subtle palette.
Interior designer Karen McKimmie is spearheading the redesign and has chosen specific wallpapers by Armani Casa and Elitis, as well as updating key furnishings in Mulberry Home fabric.
Commenting on the project, McKimmie highlighted the importance of preserving the essence of The Chester Residence. “The feedback we received from guests is that they really enjoy the essence of what The Chester Residence is, so we wanted to update the apartments without compromising that,” she said.
The venue’s tech is also being upgraded, with 55-inch Smart TVs and Blu-ray DVD players installed throughout, as well as faster wi-fi.
Graham Wood, owner of The Chester Residence, said the refurbishment will ensure the hotel’s customer service is complemented by “impressive, yet comfortable surroundings”.
“Maintaining a first class product and creating that ‘wow’ factor for guests when they arrive is key to ensuring an enjoyable stay,” said Wood.
