Bulmers and Strongbow owner Heineken has reported a record-breaking apple harvest.
The firm claims to have harvested nearly two billion apples in the course of 2015, with more than 128,000 tonnes harvested and milled at its plant in Ledbury, Herefordshire.
The company sources its apples from around 10,000 acres of orchards and claims to use 30% of all apples grown in the UK for its ciders.
“Our cider is down to the dedication and commitment of the hundreds of farmers who nurture, grow and harvest the bittersweet apples we need for the distinctive taste of Strongbow and Bulmers,” said Alexander Brinkerink, cider plant manager at Heineken.
