SLTA joins pub confederation

THE Scottish Licensed Trade Association (SLTA) is part of a new confederation of trade groups from across Britain which aims to lobby for pubs and publicans at Westminster.
Chaired by Greg Mulholland MP, who heads the parliamentary Save the Pub Group, the British Pub Confederation comprises 12 founding organisations, including the SLTA, the Fair Pint Campaign, Licensees Unite the Union, the Guild of Master Victuallers, the Forum of Private Business and the Federation of Small Businesses.
The aims of the confederation include lobbying for fairer taxation for pubs, a “fair and sensible” licensing regime and “responsible retailing and supermarket pricing”.
SLTA chief Paul Waterson said: “Only by coming together can the licensed trade have a strong influence on political decisions and continue to protect and develop the trade.”
