Hotel plan for castle

A restored castle in High Blantyre is to be launched as a luxury hotel, restaurant and event business next year.

Crossbasket Castle in Blantyre
The Crossbasket Castle, which will open for a special preview event this month, has been restored by husband and wife team Steve Timoney and Alison Reid-Timoney, who are said to have invested £9 million since purchasing the site in 2011.
Hotel management firm Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI) has been appointed to run the venue and will be working with the Timoneys to offer a ‘sneak peek’ of the venue on December 21.
Alison Reid-Timoney said the aim of the restoration, which included the addition of a grand ballroom, was to “create a sustainable business for our family that also supports the community we live in”.
