• Which beers do you have in stock at The Grog and Gruel?
We currently have five cask ales on hand pull dispense, three Scottish craft lagers and a Scottish stout on keg dispense, about seven Scottish bottled craft beers and Beck‘s, Beck’s Blue and Budweiser. Although we do stock bottled beers our priority will always be what we have to offer on draught dispense.
• What’s one of your best sellers at the moment?
Our kegged Black Gold Stout from Cairngorm is probably our high volume seller that gets the most attention. For years we had little choice when it came to a draught stout. After a few trials we did
with Cairngorm Brewery we were able to produce The Black Gold kegged stout, it was always a
popular cask conditioned stout but we are now able to offer it on keg dispense.
• Have you got any low/no ABV beers in stock?
We currently sell Beck’s Blue and Brewdog Nanny State, which are both alcohol-free beers. I did a small amount of taste testing with customers before settling on these two beers. Nanny State is very popular and I am told that it is a very nice beer regardless of its alcohol content and often see customers buy a bottle just for the flavour.
• Besides your own pub, where would you go for a good pint, what would you have, and why?
The Clachaig Inn in Glen Coe is a great place in a great setting. They also have a huge variety of ales, lagers, ciders and stouts from Scottish producers so a great place to try something new.
