An Aberdeen bar owner has unveiled what’s claimed to be the first gin distilled in the city for a century.
Ben Iravani, managing director of Monkey Bars, the firm behind Orchid and Ninety-Nine Bar and Kitchen, developed Porter’s Gin with business partners Josh Rennie and Alex Lawrence.
Part of the spirit is distilled in Orchid, with the rest created in partnership with G&J Distillers in Warrington.
The gin takes its name from professor Andrew Porter of Aberdeen University, who sourced cold-distillation equipment which allowed the trio to extract the flavours from their chosen botanicals.
Iravani said the team is “confident that we have created a unique and delicious flavour profile in our gin”.
