THE Scottish Licensed Trade Association (SLTA) has paid tribute to Dr Evelyn Gillan, head of Alcohol Focus Scotland and prominent health campaigner, who passed away on July 14.
Colin Wilkinson, SLTA secretary, said Gillan “will be greatly missed by those who knew her on both a personal and professional level”.
“The SLTA had tremendous respect for Evelyn and worked very closely with her on many occasion, building on the association’s ethos that a practical working relationship between health groups and the licensed trade is essential in promoting responsible retailing,” said Wilkinson. “Our thoughts are with her family and her colleagues at Alcohol Focus Scotland.”
A statement from Alcohol Focus Scotland said Gillan’s “enthusiasm, leadership, energy and passion to change the world for the better were evident to all who had the privilege to know and work with her”.
