Gleneagles sold to property firm

GLENEAGLES hotel and golf resort has been sold by Diageo to London-based hospitality real estate group Ennismore.

The new owner has committed to investing “significant sums” across the Gleneagles estate, which has been developed by Diageo since it acquired the site in 1984.

Ennismore plans to run the site as a stand-alone business, retaining the existing Gleneagles management and workforce.

Sharan Pasricha, chief executive of Ennismore, said the group is “delighted to be acquiring the iconic Gleneagles hotel, which is one of the world’s most prestigious and recognisable venues”.

Diageo chief executive Ivan Menezes said the firm is “proud to have been the owner of the hotel”.
