A SERIES of events designed to celebrate Scotland’s national drink and broaden whisky’s appeal gets underway today (April 30).
Part of the Year of Food and Drink, this year’s Whisky Month features a number of events taking place across the country, from comedy and ceilidhs to masterclasses and music.
The month-long programme gets underway today (April 30) with the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival; other events include the Spirit of Stirling Whisky Festival on May 9, World Whisky Day on May 16, Whisky Stramash on May 23 and 24, and the Islay Malt and Music Festival from May 22 to 30.
VisitScotland boss Malcolm Roughhead said: “Widening the appeal of whisky amongst less traditional audiences is important if we want to encourage more visitors to come to Scotland.”
