SHETLAND’S Lerwick Brewery is set to launch its first oatmeal stout.

Called ‘Tushkar’, the beer is named after the tool which islanders use to cut peat from the hillsides.
The lightly carbonated 5.5% ABV beer is said to have notes of strong coffee and chocolate; it will be available in 330ml bottles from August 18.
Alison Graham, on-trade sales manager at Lerwick Brewery, said: “We hope our oatmeal stout will interest a different sector of the market, allowing customers who prefer a heavier refreshment than a pale ale or lager, a chance to taste a piece of Shetland.”
