AYRSHIRE’S Cochrane Inn has been given a root and branch revamp.

The traditional inn, which is located in the village of Gatehead on the outskirts of Kilmarnock, has a “distinctly contemporary feel”.
The modern theme has been extended to the new menu, which majors in fresh local produce. Dishes include Cullen skink, steamed mussels, steak and sausage pie and seared sea bream; there’s also a selection of salads and sandwiches.
Owner Bill Costley said the interior revamp and new menu has refreshed the inn’s offer.
“While its ivy-covered exterior remains intact, internally the Cochrane Inn has benefited from a wide-ranging revamp to ensure it appeals to customers for years to come,” he said.
