A GIN cocktail created by a Glasgow hospitality student is to take centre stage in one of the city’s newest bars.

Steven Dow beat competition from fellow City of Glasgow College hospitality students to take the top spot in a competition to find a special gin cocktail for Alston Bar & Beef in Central Station.
His Frambooze cocktail – a combination of gin, framboise liqueur, fresh raspberries, lime, gomme and orange bitters – will be served at the launch of the new bar, which will stock more than 50 gins.
Dow went head to head with fellow finalists Stephen Mcilvenny, Jennifer Marley and David Allan, who were whittled down from 80 entries, at LA Group’s Liquid Arts Academy in Glasgow. The four students created their drinks in front of judges Matthew Mustard, general manager of Alston Bar & Beef, and LA Group mixologist and flair trainer Jon O’Connor.
